This working vintage pick axe has ‘W. Park & Co’ and ‘Bulldog 2 1/2 lbs’ cast into one side.
The British forgemasters firm ‘Wigan Slitting Mill’, was founded by William Parks in 1787, before being renamed ‘William Park and Co.’ in 1824. It remained so until merging with Joseph Webb and Sons Limited in 1968. The Bulldog line of tools continues to be one of the oldest surviving brands in the UK.
This pick axe has been restored by members of the Ottawa Tool Library Vintage Tool Group.
